In February 2023, I began Verses From the Underground with D. Warlock in Orlando, Fl. At that time, I had no intention of it being a long-term endeavor, but, to my delight, I have yet to suffer putting it down. Our readership (you included) is small, but so are our poems (usually). I sincerely appreciate every one of you for sticking with us because I, like many other prideful editors, have no idea what I’m doing. I have a better idea of what I’m doing now than what I was doing before. It’s relieving to admit that. I wish more of us would. And to the few of you that think you know what you’re doing… for shame.
Nonetheless, the aim of Verses has remained the same: to be an accessible voice for the poetic underground, regardless of topic, style, or technique—as long as the poems are good, and they’re rarely good. At least one of the four writers in this Issue have found their way into every other monthly release we’ve done and represent our body of publications well. They’re good writers. They’ve educated me on writing and poetry, and they tolerate my typos and misprints. I hope you enjoy their poems that follow and, if you also write, I encourage you to submit your work and stand next to us—everything’s free.
