Notes:
My duty fulfilled, I close myself up in self-constructed comforts and dare the world to question my well-earned and judgmental complacency. The brooding darkness cannot obscure the rising sun. These images are a response to the emotions exhibited by the prophet Jonah upon observing the repentant attitude of the people of Nineveh as they received God’s intervening admonishment.
The text comes from the hopeful words of the king of Nineveh found in the book of Jonah, chapter three, quoted from the New King James Version.
